1900 United States Morgan Silver Dollar Necklace
1900 United States Morgan Silver Dollar Necklace
Vintage 1900 United States Morgan silver dollar coin designed by George Thomas Morgan made of 26 grams of silver on a 16" 14k Gold filled chain.
In 1873 the Mint Act put an end to the production of the Liberty Seated silver dollar, instead favoring Trade and gold dollars. This caused an uproar among silver mine owners in the West, so they proceeded to heavily lobby their congressmen. After five years of fervent debates, Congress eventually approved the production of a new silver dollar in 1878. This new coin was the remarkable Morgan silver dollar; it had a large and substantial size, an iconic design, and was crafted from .900 silver. Thus, a legendary symbol was born.
